POTUS Obama to appear publicly with HH The Dalai Lama

January 30th, 2015 – Much to the chagrin of the communist rulers of China, the Dalai Lama will meet with President Obama on February 5, 2015 for the National Prayer breakfast. Good for Obama. Everyone seems to be wary of confronting China, so this is a momentous occasion indeed. ¬†Wouldn’t be surprised if there was and is a meeting of minds between India’s Modi, ¬†Japan’ s Abe and the U.S.’s Obama.

China’s foreign minister Zhang Yesui has been quoted as warning the U.S., “Such a move will gravely sabotage China-U.S. cooperation and relations, and will definitely undermine it’s own interest.”

This annual event’s keynote speakers are generally Christians, however last year Rajiv Shah , the head of U.S. AID addressed the gathering. Despite the Dalai Lama not scheduled to address the gathering, it is hoped that he will be given an opportunity to speak, at least unofficially.

An opinion piece in the state-run China Net news portal observes that Mr Obama has been “unrepentant” over his meeting with the exiled leader and warns the US president against “planting a dangerous bomb” in bilateral relations.
